The McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed a felony child endangerment charge against a woman whose 11-month-old son drowned in the bathtub May 20, 2022.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Samantha Ann Qualls (DOB 1998) Anderson, with bond set at $2,000 cash only.
The allegations against Qualls were spelled out in the probable cause statement:
Qualls stated that after coming inside at 8:11 a.m., she placed her 11-month-old son onto the floor from the high chair. Qualls then stepped outside at approximately 8:15 a.m. and called her boyfriend's grandmother from 8:15 a.m. to 8:32 a.m.
Qualls stated that she was outside and was smoking for the duration of the phone call.
Qualls stated on written testimony from the day of the incident that she then returned inside and sat on the couch, when her 2-year-old son whom was in the bath, came to her and she realized that she did not see her 11-month- old son.
Qualls stated that she looked in the kitchen and did not see and then located face-down in the bathtub, not responsive and not breathing.
McDonald County E911 shows the incoming 911 call at 8:41 a.m. and law enforcement and medics enroute.
Medics were able to restore breathing and a pulse, but brain activity could not be restored and was taken off of life support 05/22/2022. By Qualls' confession, she left her children unattended for approximately 23 out 27 minutes during the time of this incident, resulting in loss of life.
The case was investigated by the Goodman Police Department.

Why did it take 18 months for the Mcdonald County Prosecutor 18 months to file charges?
This case was closed, she went to court and it was closed and ruled an accident. The actions of someone else caused this to be reopened.
This is an unfortunate accident, should she have been outside and distracted no but we have all been guilty of not paying attention to our children. If you don’t believe you have been guilty of being distracted etc. then you’re a liar, or you’ve never raised kids
Her kid was found outside wondering around without an adult a few days ago. She now has 2 child endangerment charges.
because her mother was being paid to watch her children while she worked, she picked him up everyday after school off of the bus. but “forgot” that day, so he got off by himself while SAMANTHA WAS AT WORK
FYI she hadn't paid her mother since 1st of December and her mother was taking all 3 to school and having to pick them up at 3 different time 1 at noon 1 at 2 then again 1at 3:20 and her mothers truck was breaking down. To top it all she had a restraing order on her mother at the same time she was asked to do this one minute she would trash talk her and then when nobody else would help she would call her mother once again for help and like always any grandma would do so. And having to take out of her pocket to pay for the fuel and with having to get kids all time leaving grandma without a job to b able to keep doin so
FYI she was only paying her mother $50 a week n she hadn't paid her mother since the 1st of december.. Not to mention she dropped kids off at school n then also picked them up from school 1 at noon 1 at 2 n then 1 at 3:20 she was doing that 5days a week $50 don't cover all that running to boot her mother was raising another grandbaby on top of all that it's funny how Samantha always trashed talked her mother but yet wen she couldn't get anybody else to do it she would have her mother once again helping her to top it all she had a restraing order on her mother during all this chaos..her mothers wheels was on its last leg n yet she had to pull $ out of her own pocket to keep doing so for her grandbabies in result of all this her mother lost her job n no longer had a income to keep doing this..I am Samantha's mother n since everyone wants to talk there crap on me well now u have my side of the whole story..I love my grandkids I've had them hung over my head for past 5yrs I've even had them kept from me for 6 months or more until I was needed once again you tell me what grandma wouldn't walk on egg shells to just b able to see her grandbabies..
They gave her remaining kids back pending trial??
