Disbarment recommended for Joplin attorney who allegedly abandoned, harmed clients

The Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel, an agency of the Missouri Supreme Court today recommended the disbarment of Joplin attorney Kathleen Wolf Miller.

According to documents filed today with the Missouri Supreme Court, Miller did not respond to the following accusations against her, although she was offered numerous opportunities to do so.

a. abandoning her clients with little to no communication

b. depositing personal funds into her client trust account

c. failing to maintain the required financial records

d. refusing to provide a client with his file

e. having support staff make false representations to a client

 f. refusing to respond to multiple requests to provide Informant with information

 g. making a false representation to her client

 h. abandoning her clients in a way that prejudiced the administration of justice

The document outlined how Miller allegedly harmed her clients:

Respondent abandoned clients Alexander S. and Whitney F.  Respondent caused Alexander S. and Whitney F. injury in that both clients had to undertake the expense of hiring new counsel.

Respondent abandoned client Michelle B. in a child support modification hearing. Michelle B. had to proceed without an attorney and an award increasing Michelle B’s child support obligation was entered.

Respondent knowingly failed to perform services for Connor A., George C., and Terrino P. causing harm to each client’s case.

In the cases of Alexander S., Whitney F., Connor A., George C., Terrino P., and Michelle B., Respondent engaged in a pattern of client neglect that qualifies as client abandonment or near abandonment in such a way that all of their cases were injured in ways unique to each case.

The report noted that Miller has never had any disciplinary complaints prior to these.

Miller and her attorney have 30 days to file a response recommending her punishment, including making a case for something less than disbarment.

She learned from the best prosecuting attorneys in Newton County.

Will she be disbarred? If so when, as she's still a public defender in Nevada, Missouri

She was the assistant prosecutor in Newton County for a long time… I’m certain that there’s more coverups. She was arrested for DWI by the highway patrol a few years back as the prosecutor at the time as well.

Why so Anonymous guys!? Both of you can get bent with your same self 2 person pretending fool trying to make a good women look any you can just so you can Anonymously say Yep. Just so everyone knows my Name is T.J. Ingram and Miss MIller is a life saver and more. I have always known her to be the number 1 desired Defender while in custody plus she was the only person who would listen to what I was saying in my time of dire need. She then delivered me out of the snares of a vicious prosecution misconduct and helped me file understand and properly file a motion of 4140 post conviction relief on a 40 year sentence I received. A 4o year sentence for crims I did not commit. Gold Bless Miss Kathleen Miller in all of her ways I pray in Lord Jesus Christ name my Lord God almighty loosen Kathleen Miller away from every snare from the traps the enemy have laid way, Loosen and deliver her from thine enemy's simply cause I your little one have found much delight in her. WooT WOOT! Praise God for Kathleen Miller WOOT!!
