Freeman CEO Paula Baker announced her impending retirement today with the following e-mail to employees:
Because I know word travels quickly, I wanted you to hear this news directly from me.
Today marks a significant milestone for me as I announce my intent to retire at the end of a one-year notice period.
After 13 years as the President and CEO of Freeman Health System, the time has come for me to step into a new chapter of life. As all of you parents will understand, my son will be finishing high school before I can turn around and I want quality time with him. Reflecting on this remarkable journey, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering support, the countless memories, and the remarkable accomplishments we have achieved together as we fulfill our most sacred mission.
During my tenure as CEO, we have witnessed unparalleled growth within Freeman Health System. Through the collective efforts of our exceptional team, we have expanded our services, bolstered our workforce, and witnessed substantial increases in revenue. These achievements stand as a testament to the unwavering commitment and passion that each and every one of you has brought to the table. Together, we have transformed challenges into opportunities and obstacles into triumphs.
As I look back on our journey, I am filled with pride for the impact we have made in the healthcare industry and the lives we have touched within our region. The growth and success we have achieved together have been nothing short of extraordinary, and I am immensely proud of all of you.
As I step into retirement next year, I carry with me the cherished memories of the moments we have shared, the challenges we have overcome, and the victories we have celebrated. This press release checks all the boxes, as far as saying something, but yet not saying very much.
These press releases usually sound the same.
Lots of times there's nothing wrong when a CEO resigns, sometimes it's as simple as at some point a person might decide they are ready for a change.
Whether there's a rumor or two about federal investigations or not, it could well be the executive really does want more time with their family, whether or not there has been an wholesale cleanout at the highest levels, they usually don't tell you what you might need to know.
On the other hand, if there really is something you need to know, they probably won't tell you in the 'look forward to spending more time with my friends and family' press release.
In 2022 the Freeman Health System IRS 990 filing shows the following compensation numbers on the line with Paula Bakers name on it: $1,711,024 and $427,756 and $34,053.
There are a lot of people who have Johnny Paycheck's TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT on their playlist and they don't get a monthly check with a gross over $100,000 a month.
The money says a deal was made with the FBI to secure her being gone early to save face.
Obviously she would have love to stay a few more years and collect the cool 1.5 Million annual. Too bad.
Hopefully the next CEO will be an outsider and will clean the freeman reputation up.
Now they will have to redo all the billboards around town. LOL
Know we see the Main Reasons - Our Hospitals and Schools are in such Disarray - with Management Salaries this High in our Hospitals and the sheer Number of Principals, Superintendents and their Support Staff we have in Schools - - some making well over 6-Figures - - is there any Justification - to Pay these People these Outrageous Amounts - While the Backbone of the Hospitals are the Nurses and the School Systems are the Teachers - - None coming close to ever making what most of these Idiots make.

My cousin plays golf with one of the high level administrators there in the main office. You wouldn’t believe how he talks about patients and the culture there. It’s embarrassing that they’d hire someone to snarky. There is desperate need for major culture shift.
