A Neosho man with four previous conviction for driving while intoxicated was charged with felony DWI following a traffic stop Saturday at 5700 Cockrell Drive.
According to the probable cause statement, Renson Benster Fredrick (DOB 1982) ran a stop sign coming to stop with his vehicle halfway into Howard Bush Drive.
Mr. Fredrick could not provide proof of insurance. Mr. Fredrick's speech was slurred, and very hard to understand, he was very confused and asked me numerous times why I stopped him. I observed a 24-pack of Bud Light cans open in the passenger floorboard, which appeared to be nearly empty, and a bottle of Bud Light lying on the center console.
Fredrick had difficulty maintaining his balance after getting out of his vehicle, the probable cause statement said. He denied drinking alcohol "but admitted using THC approximately two hours prior to the traffic stop."
The probable cause statement indicated Fredrick had the following DWI convictions:
-May 5, 2013 in Newton County Circuit Court
-March 7, 2015 in Anderson Municipal Court
-March 6, 2016 in Saline County Circuit Court
-March 11, 2019 in Newton County Circuit Court
In addition to DWI, Fredrick was cited for driving while revoked, failure to stop for a stop sign and failure to maintain proof of financial responsibility.
Bond was set at $2,500 cash or surety with the condition that Fredrick not use alcohol or any intoxicating substances.
His next court hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. January 30.
The case was investigated by the Neosho Police Department.
