Neosho man's arraignment on child kidnapping set for Monday

The arraignment of a Neosho man on a felony charge of kidnapping in the third degree is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

This will be the second time Matthew Honeycutt, 24, has been arraigned. Court records indicate the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office had indicated even before the first arraignment that it planned to reduce the charge against Honeycutt to a lesser kidnapping charge.

According to the probable cause statement, a Sarcoxie woman allowed Honeycutt to take her car and her 7-year-old daughter to pick up a dog April 15, but Honeycutt did not return with the dog, the child or the car.

An Amber Alert was issued for the girl and and authorities were able to pull Honeycutt over as he returned to Missouri the following day.
