(From Joplin Schools)The Joplin Schools Board of Education has unanimously accepted the “Talon Center” as the official name of the new indoor activity center to be constructed on the campus of Joplin High School as approved by Joplin voters as part of the April 2026 Eagle Bond. The name was selected by a committee of district volunteers, including staff, students, parents, and community members.
Also at the July 21 meeting, the Board approved a multi-year naming rights partnership for the Talon Center with TAMKO Building Products, LLC. Through this 10-year partnership, TAMKO will serve as the facility’s naming sponsor, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing student experiences and strengthening community connections.
David Humphreys, Chairman and CEO of TAMKO, and his wife, Debra, are also personally sponsoring the facility’s indoor turf field.
“The TAMKO Talon Center will touch many aspects of the student experience," said Superintendent Dr. Kerry Sachetta, "and we’re grateful to work alongside a partner that continues to invest in opportunities that make a lasting difference.”
The TAMKO Talon Center is designed to meet a wide range of student needs, providing year-round space for athletics, fine arts, student organizations, summer programming, and wellness activities. The addition will also help address current gym space limitations and allow programs to grow and thrive. The TAMKO Talon Center has an anticipated completion date of summer 2028.

For clarity, the naming rights for the TAMKO Talon Center and the Humphreys indoor field were solicited by Joplin R8 to obtain additional funding from donors the Joplin Schools. It's similar to sponsorships for scoreboards and other school facilities to help offset the cost of district projects through private dollars.
Simple Questions - But only if you Seek the Facts and Truths:
What is the Cost of the new Joplin High School Student Activity Center, which is to be completed in the Summer of 2028? This is part of the Joplin Schools Eagle Bond, of $50-Million - So how much is being allocated for this New Student Activity Center?
What is the Donation / Funding Amount from the Tamko - TAMKO Building Products, LLC (10-year naming rights partner) and CEO David/Debra Humphreys (turf field sponsor), and what does it include/cover - isn't this just a TAX Write-off for Tamko and/or the Humphreys - and what happens after 10-Years - Joplin opens up another Bond?
The interesting Question - With Missouri Ranked 31st to 32nd in the Nation in Education - Do you think this new Activity Center will Help - Jane and Johnny - to be able to Read, Write, understand History, Science, Biology and do Math any BETTER to compete in the Global Society/World we live in - or will our declining literacy standards in schools continue to show how AZZ BACKWARDS WE DO THINGS AND START TO QUESTION - OUR RIDICULOUS US EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS - BY THE BIGGEST UNION IN THE USA - THE NEA (NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION) - WHICH GIVES - almost all of its political contributions and independent expenditures to the Democratic Party and liberal outside groups, tracking at roughly 93% to over 98% in recent election cycles. Maybe Tamko could have invested the money to make a decent roofing shingle, TAMKO shingles are generally positioned as a budget-friendly or value option, comparing against GAF and Owens Corning by offering lower upfront costs at the expense of slightly shorter standard warranties, basic wind ratings, and fewer high-end technology features.
You do realize that the donation is real cash out and the tax deduction is nowhere near a full offset. Is a thank you so darn difficult?

We invest so much money into Sports - Using Taxpayer Dollars to try and Achieve this Sports Mindset, forgetting that Schools - Primary purpose is to equip individuals with the foundational academic knowledge, critical thinking skills, and social competencies necessary to navigate the real world, pursue meaningful careers, and become engaged, responsible members of society.
These are True Facts and Statistics!
About 57% of high school students play on at least one school or community sports team. Rates vary by grade level and differ between boys and girls. What about the other 43% - that do not play sports how will that HELP THEM!

9th Grade: 61.9% 10th Grade: 57.9% 11th Grade: 59.1% 12th Grade: 49.8%.
Only about 6% to 7% of high school senior athletes go on to play sports at the college level across any division. When looking specifically at the elite NCAA Division I level, that number drops to less than 2%

Men's Basketball: Roughly 3% total (about 1% in Division I).

LESS THAN - 2 percent of NCAA college student-athletes go on to play professional sports - Though our High Schools and Colleges spend Billions of Dollars to Fund these Extremely LOW NUMBERS of Sports Participants - through our Tax Dollars - What about the other 98% of Students that will need to go out and get Jobs - Had we Invested that same Amount of Money into their Education - Where would the United States be Ranked in Education Globally??????

Wow, 11:44, is correct the NEA, (Teachers Union), the largest union in the United States does give the majority, 93% to over 98% of its political contributions to the Democratic Party and Liberal Groups, is this why our schools, administrators, teachers, and curriculum have been declining in the Education of our Children? They have brought in Woke, DEI, CRT, and Pronoun Shaming, as their Standards to follow - Not Focusing on the Educational Curriculum to give children the Education they need for their Futures.

We focus on Sports or whatever else and forget that Missouri is ranked 32nd in the United States in education, but our Schools have Trophy Cases filled with plaques and trophies showcasing that all the while Missouri has the 12th Highest Dropout Rate of High School Students in the Nation. Granted these are not Participation plaques and trophies as the Woke, DEI, CRT, and Pronoun Shamers want to push to create their picture of Equality - but shouldn't we use our Education / Tax Dollars for Education and Preparing Children for their Futures, not just for watching Professional Athletes on Television?
Several of us Donate, without using those donations as Personal or Business Tax Deductions, Write-offs, or any Notoriety or Fanfare. Helping others doesn't need to have 100's of Press Releases, Social Media Attention, or our Names on Buildings, Signs, or Big Checks. You can Donate Anonymously - without the need to advertise it - and of course why do people need to advertise it - that is the question at the heart of the matter?
Keep it Private: Jesus taught that when you help the needy, you should do it quietly without showing off for other people (Matthew 6:3–4).
