Lindstedt files lawsuit against Newton County judges, Department of Mental Health

Perennial candidate (and perennial loser) Martin Lindstedt, who has been awaiting trial on statutory sodomy charges for the past two years, filed a lawsuit May 17 in Newton County Circuit Court against the judges who have been involved in his case.
According to court documents, the defendants in the lawsuit are Judge Greg Stremel, Judge Tim Perigo, Judge Kevin Selby, Assistant Prosecutor Bill Dobbs, Sheriff Ken Copeland, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
After two years of working his way through both the judicial and mental health systems, Lindstedt was found competent to stand trial by Judge John LePage during a hearing held the same day Lindstedt filed his lawsuit.
The next hearing in the criminal case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, July 13.
