Candidates square off at ice cream social

Republican candidates for Jasper County offices made their pitch to the party faithful tonight at the Lincoln Ladies Republican Women's Ice Cream Social held at Memorial Hall in Carthage.

Among the hotly contested offices is Jasper County public administrator, an office currently held by Rita Hunter. Mrs. Hunter and challengers Angie Casavecchia Ashens and J. L. "Monty" Morgan addressed the audience, which totaled more than 300.
