Chris Wright files for 160th District State Representative

Chris Wright, who ran for governor in 2024, has filed paperwork with the Missouri Ethics Commission to run for the Republican nomination for the 160th District House of Representatives seat currently held by no one while Gov. Mike Kehoe takes his own sweet time calling for a special election.

Former Neosho R-5 Board of Education member Jonathan Russell, a Republican, has also filed.

Technically neither has filed to run. That doesn’t happen until February. They filed a campaign committee with MEC, which is not the same as filing to run for an office. Sometimes people do that as an exploratory committee to determine if they have the support and want to officially run.
