Blanchard takes fundraising lead in Jasper County judge race


Joplin attorney Karl Blanchard has a wide lead in fundraising in his campaign for Division One, Circuit Court, according to the April quarterly report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Blanchard reported receiving $20,871 during the previous three months and spent $7,921.45. Since he had $7,808.95 at the beginning of the reporting period, he was left with $20,758.50.
His contributors were all from the local area except for a $300 contribution from a reporter in Long Beach, Calif.
Maximum $600 contributions came from Larry Deffenbaugh, physician; Scotty Vorhees, attorney; Cardinal Scale Manufacturing, Webb City; William Perry III, Joplin, Irving LaFrancis, M.D.; Betty LaFrancis, homemaker; Barbara Majozoub, business owner; Karl Blanchard Sr., attorney; Hish Majzoub, M. D.; and Miriam Putnam, homemaker.
Blanchard's opponent, Joplin attorney Gayle Crane, received $1,980 during the first three months of the year and spent $2,938.55, leaving her with $4,620.08, according to the Ethics Commission documents. She received only four large contributions during the period, with only one, Joplin Urgent Care, contributing the maximum $600.
