An article in today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch indicates the state auditor race is heating up.
Articles last week from various sources indicated people connected with Governor Matt Blunt are becoming involved in the campaign of Platte County auditor Sandra Thomas. Her campaign committee's disclosure documents on file with the Missouri Ethics Commission indicate that Joplin CPA Nick Myers is her treasurer.
Myers, of course, is also the treasurer for the Nodler Leadership PAC. His wife, Victoria, is the deputy treasurer for the 32nd District Senatorial Committee, which has as its treasurer Tom Flanigan, who also happens to be Sen. Gary Nodler's treasurer. Mrs. Myers is also deputy treasurer for the 129th District Legislative Fund.
Though Springfield State Representative Mark Wright is campaigning as the only auditor candidate from southwest Missouri, it appears Ms. Thomas, with connections linking her to the governor and Sen. Nodler, may also have some pull in this area.

I guess Nick is a very important person in politics these days. The good ole boy network, alive and well in 2006, are things ever going to change around here?
The article is way off base. Nick is her treasurer but his wife name is Brenda and is not treasurer of any of those mentioned. Very sloppy report.
Lou is absolutely correct. It was a sloppy piece of reporting. Victoria Myers is not Nick's wife. She does have the same address and the same telephone number as he does, but is not his wife. His wife is indeed Brenda. My apologies for the error.
The that report is even more interesting.
Randy Turner reminds me of John Nash, the fellow that was portrayed in the movie “A Beautiful Mind". Nash saw connections, whether they existed or not. Here for instance, because Nick Myers is Sandra Thomas's treasurer, Turner imagines that she has connections to Senator Gary Nodler. Nodler in fact has endorsed and is supporting Senator John Loudon. The facts don't seem to matter; Turner's imagination is working over time again drawing connections that don't exist. The last comment on the very interesting report on Victoria, she happens to be Myers daughter WOW! But keep drawing those connections, until someone can get you guys medicated.
