Technically, Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt and Fourth District Congressman Ike Skelton did not vote to give themselves $3,300 pay raises earlier this week. All they did was vote against a motion by Jim Matheson of Utah which would have required a roll call vote. That vote enabled the House of Representatives to simply allow the pay raise to automatically go into effect.
The vote was 249 no to 167 yes. Blunt and Skelton, of course, were among the no votes.
The Springfield News-Leader editorialized on the pay raise this morning.
