Skelton: Redeployment plan needed as soon as possible
Congressman Ike Skelton, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, says the time to begin getting out of Iraq is now.
Skelton, who has a well-earned reputation as a staunch proponent of a strong national defense, noted that so far there has been "over $300 billion spent on the war, a battalion's worth of casualties a month dead and injured, and increasing attacks on the coalition and American forces despite an increase in American operations against the insurgents. We need a plan for responsible redeployment as soon as possible."
