Stebbins captures fantasy football title

This one is not going to be included in the six-month roundup of top stories from The Turner Report, but in the quest to provide the reader with area media coverage, I print the following news:

Below are the final 2006 standings of the exChart Fantasy Football League. The league includes several local journalists. All league members (with one exception) are former editors of The Chart at Missouri Southern State University.

Chad Stebbins became the first two-time champion in 2006. He also won the league in 2003. Other past champions include John Hacker (2004) and T.R. Hanrahan (2005).

1. Chad Stebbins, adviser, The Chart
2. B. Stebbins, MU journalism student
3. David Haut, reporter, Joplin Tri-State Business
4. Jeff Wells, editor, Joplin Tri-State Business
5. Chris Roberts, former reporter for The Joplin Globe and The Carthage Press
6. T.R. Hanrahan, MSSU publications manager
7. Andre Smith, former Carthage Press sports editor
8. John Hacker, editor, JoplinDaily.com
9. Nick Parker, editor, GateHouse Plus
10. Rick Rogers, publisher, Neosho Daily News

In other news of the "this can't wait" variety, I watched Gunfight at the O. K. Corral on Turner Classic Movies Wednesday night. It was the umpteenth time I have seen the Burt Lancaster/Kirk Douglas movie and I am happy to announce that Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday won the battle once again, the Clantons were all killed, but two of Wyatt's brothers were injured during the battle.

Congrats to Chad. What a shocking disappointment for sports expert Rick Rogers.

It appears Rogers is just as bad at fantasy football as he is at poker.

Parker and Rogers bringing up the rear, it's like the results of the annual Chart story count from 1997.

Must be something in the water at GateHouse that limits your abilities.

I deserve the punishment for my poor season. I will take it like a man.
