Trial date set for Sen. Smith in Isle of Capri case
The trial date is set.
The motion by Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis, to dismiss the charges against him was overruled today by Judge Keith Michael Bail in Cooper County Circuit Court. A trial date of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, was scheduled.
Smith is charged with presenting false identification in order to gamble at the Isle of Capri casino in Boonville during a lobbyist-financed junket on July 31. At the suggestion of lobbyists Lynne Schlosser, he purportedly used the identification of Rep. Joe Aull, D-Kansas City to gamble. Ms. Schlosser's motion to dismiss was also overruled today and her trial is set for the same date.
Aull's court records indicate his next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 22.
