According to a Page news release:
Sam Page, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, is asking Missourians to send Peter Kinder a message. From his Web site, www.SamPage.com, Missourians can now ask the Acting Governor to release the backup e-mail tapes being kept secret by the Blunt-Kinder Administration in violation of state law.
It was first reported by the Associated Press on July 14 that Gov. Matt Blunt would be leaving the state for an 18-day trip to end July 30. According to the article, Kinder was to make several appointments while the governor was out of the country.
"As long as Peter Kinder serves as the Acting Governor, he has the power to end today one of the longest on-going political scandals in Jefferson City," Page said. "His inaction makes him an accomplice in this cover-up. I invite my fellow Missourians to join me in calling for Peter Kinder to end this shameful violation of the state's open records law."
"When he was sworn in 2005, Kinder took an oath to uphold the laws of Missouri," Page said, "not to protect the secrets of his governor."
