BlogNetNews just released its weekly list of top 20 most influential Missouri political blogs, and it looks like The Turner Report's influence flew right out the window.
After making the top 20 for every week since the poll started one year ago, The Turner Report failed to make the list this week.
Southwest Missouri was still well represented with Life Of Jason taking second place, Branson, Missouri fourth, KY3 Political Notebook (now the only blog that has made the list every week since it started) sixth, Inside Missouri Politics 10th, and JackeHammer 11th.

Don't worry. Their rankings are meaningless.
BlogNetNews is notorious nationwide for ranking local blogs arbitrarily. In Virginia, they had a blog that hadn't updated in months ranked number one over the blogs who had helped Jim Webb get elected.
I'm not concerned. I have watched as blogs that undoubtedly have influence are at or near the top of the chart one week and then nowhere to be found the next. I was only surprised that it did not happen to this blog a long time ago.
I used to have high influence several weeks in a row. Then my traffic starting really spiking with people coming to my site every day... then my influence decreased. What a system! LOL
You are still a must read for me!
I dropped off too, Randy. I wonder if Darin Codin's recent health problems had anything to do with the changes?
He was the Missouri administrator for this ranking service.
Jason Wirt, of LifeOfJason, is now the Missouri Editor for Blognet.
Clark,
I hadn't heard that allegation before. I am wondering if you could post a link to where someone said that. I'd like to check it out.
Randy,
We recently added some new features to the influence index. Among them is a 12-week rolling average that is more stable than the weekly results that are based on a much smaller amount of data.
Busplunge,
Local editors don't have the opportunity to mess with the weekly influence results.
Randy, would it be possible for you to add some posts about the local media scene? I started reading your blog primarily because you critiqued the Globe, the Herald, the local TV stations, the business journals, etc. It seems to me that you have gotten away from that. Also, how about some information about what's going on at MSSU?
David, it's come up in conversations I've had with bloggers around the country. I'll admit that I was flattered when our blog came in first in the state, but something is fishy when we regularly beat out Fired Up! for most influential, and sometimes Fired Up! even falls off your list.
I don't have any animosity towards you - I've also heard nice things about you personally - but I just won't pay any attention to your rankings until somebody gives me evidence that they mean something in the real world.
Randy, I don't even bother to mention my "ranking" on my blog site. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what the "rank" is...you know your readership from week to week.
The only reason I mentioned it this time was out of fairness. I mentioned the ranking a few times several weeks back when this blog was at or near the top, so it is only fair to mention it when I dropped off the list.
Randy, I understand that. I was just trying to encourage you that no matter what the rank you still have plenty of us that look to you as a reliable, trustworthy source of information. I don't care if you're Top 20 or not. :)
Clark, which blog is yours?
Show Me Progress.
