Pork deeply into Brunner, association endorses his Senate run

(From the John Brunner Senate campaign)

The Missouri Pork Association announced its endorsement of John Brunner’s campaign for U.S. Senate. This endorsement marks the first time the Missouri Pork Association has endorsed a candidate in a primary.

The organization, whose history dates back to its founding in 1954, represents Missouri’s pork producers and seeks to optimize opportunities for the industry’s success.

“We are endorsing in the primary for the first time in our association’s history because of the vital nature of this election and the strength of John Brunner as a candidate,” said Don Nikodim, executive vice president of the Missouri Pork Association. “Washington is broken and its regulations are harming our industry. John Brunner, with his business background, is the best candidate in this race to fix Washington and ensure our pork producers have the best opportunities to succeed.”

The Missouri Pork Association board voted unanimously to approve the endorsement of Brunner’s campaign.

“Hog farmers across the state work hard every day to produce a safe, healthy and affordable product for consumers,” said Bob North, member of the Missouri Pork Association Board of Directors from Lebanon. “We feel John Brunner will support our efforts as we make continuous improvements to feed a growing population.”

“John Brunner’s experience speaks for itself,” said Scott Hays, chairman of the Missouri Pork Association. “He turned a struggling business into a success – that’s the kind of leadership we need in Washington. John Brunner knows that agriculture is important to Missouri and he wants to do what is right for Missouri, not just be a career politician.”

The Missouri Pork Association endorsement adds to a growing list of Missouri agribusiness leaders and organizations that have endorsed Brunner's campaign, including the Missouri Soybean Association PAC, the John Deere PAC, former Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Katie Smith, and former Missouri Corn Growers Association President Keith Witt.

“I’m truly proud to have earned the Missouri Pork Association’s endorsement and look forward to working with them and their members in this campaign,” said Republican U.S. Senate Candidate John Brunner. “Agribusiness works for Missouri, and it’s time they have a Senator who will work for them. As a U.S. Senator, I will fight to repeal burdensome EPA regulations; halt new, industry-crippling mandates from being implemented; promote new export opportunities for our farmers and ranchers; and support pro-growth measures to provide America’s agribusiness with the best opportunity to succeed.”
