As expected. Rep. Hartzler notes that "guns don't kill people, people kill people. And the following:
"We need to look at the causes of these tragedies and see if we can address them. Banning any type of guns is not the way to go. A police officer in Warrensburg e-mailed me that most murders are with knives, bare hands and things like baseball bats."Eliminating one particular form will not stop people who are intent on doing that. In fact, it makes victims more vulnerable because they won't have guns to defend themselves. It would be the totally wrong approach to this very sensitive issue."

The Warrensburg policeman, like Hartzler, is stupid.
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004888.html - This data is so inconsistent and lacks any substance that to automatically believe this is true is a crime against one's own intelligence.
The 10:50 poster either doesn't know how to interpret data, or doesn't understand what "inconsistent" and "substance" means. Their post indicates a disregard for a reality that I'm guessing doesn't fit with their beliefs on the subject. The data is from a neutral source with no bias when it comes to the figures it reports. Similar numbers can be found from any other reputable source.

No you are stupid. If somebody wants to kill someone they will do it whether they have a gun or not. Take guns away from law abiding citizens and all you get is a lot more potential victims.
