"As a citizen of Joplin, I believe it would be useful for there to be an audit of both the City of Joplin and the R-8 School District to provide the taxpayers with a clear understanding of the finances and the expenditures of both the City and the R-8 School District.
As taxpayers, we should be interested in assuring that financial matters are handled both appropriately and with care. Under the statutory procedure allowing any Missouri taxpayer to start the petition process, a formal request was made to the State Auditor’s office."
