Huff, Landis take a victory lap

A reception was held today at the Memorial administration building honoring the "retiring" C. J. Huff, as well as departed (but still here in spirit) Mike Landis, Anne Sharp, Randy Steele, Shawn McGrew, and Jim Kimbrough.

In this KODE video, Landis talks about the board's accomplishments during his time and Huff says he will miss having his photo taken with kindergarteners.

Your use of the word "departed" made me think of the movie, The Departed. I don't think this gang was too far behind the corruption from that movie.

Oh lord it's hard to be humble.,, said...

Today I awarded myself The Excellence In Greatness award for my outstanding contributions to the advancement of humanity. I cannot say that I was surprised by this highest of honors, as my magnificence is overshadowed only by my immeasurable modesty. It is a pity that others must be satisfied with Nobels, Pulitzers, amd other second tier recognition as I a m the only one in history to inhabit the realm of value represented by this apex of achievement. This award is so elite, that common folk are most likely unaware. It is just as well, given their unlikely capacity to grasp its full meaning. So it is with my typically humble heart that I graciously accept this honor; not so much for myself, but rather as a gift to you. By recognizing my greatness, you make yourselves better people. Isn't that what it is really all about in the end?

Your welcome!

Even by cramming all of the old Board members into the reception it wasn't very heavily attended. People from Central Office dragged their kids in, from the looks of things, and Central Office staff of course had to pay tribute to their fallen leaders.

The rest of us feel like celebrating this momentous occasion, but I'm guessing for different reasons.

It sickens me that Landis, Steele, and Huff were honored. Quitters and cowards who, in the end, all showed us their true colors. As a teacher in Joplin Schools, I loudly say GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

Since when do we celebrate quitter board members for their "service"? Sickens me to even look at that little man with the stupid voice and even worse facial expressions. He should be soundly slapped and sent home!
