McCaskill: Join me in voting "No" on Amendment 6

(From Sen. Claire McCaskill)

I don’t know about you, but this election cycle has left me speechless more than once -- and that’s not easy to do.

Underneath all the offensive rhetoric that seems to stream out of every digital device, Amendment 6 is quietly threatening the very foundation of our democracy here in Missouri.

Join me in standing up and saying “NO” to Amendment 6.

Amendment 6 would prevent hundreds of thousands of eligible Missouri voters from casting their ballots simply because they lack a specific form of photo ID. Among those most vulnerable would be seniors, students, folks with disabilities, minorities, low-income Missourians, and even some of our veterans.

On top of that, Amendment 6 would cost about $17 million in just the first couple years--and there’s currently no plan to fund it.

This is the same sort of misguided legislation we’ve seen in Texas, Alabama, North Carolina and Wisconsin. And it’s unacceptable.

On Election Day, November 8th, I hope you’ll join me in voting NO on Amendment 6.
