Incumbent board president Sharrock Dermott (pictured) and newcomer Michael Joseph won two three-year seats on the Joplin R-8 Board of Education today.
Dermott, who was elected to his second term, received 1,530 votes, while Joseph received 1,215 votes.
Martucci, who served a three-year-term and a one-year unexpired term, had 1,107 votes.

Finally. It's about time Martucci was ousted. All of her childish antics and petty attacks did her in. The voters have spoken. Now let's get rid of Fort when her term is up. This would cut out more of the cancer on this board and then maybe we can move forward and do some good for our kids!
Ugh. Dermott.
I worked for one of the several doctors in Joplin that are related to the Joseph family. They passed patients back and forth on referrals to the other family members. It seemed a bit of a stretch that an ophthalmologist would refer to a dentist and vice versa. The older people we saw would not question their doctor's referral and would just follow orders. All a big money grab from a family who doesn't need more money.
