The first signing for my book Lost Angels; The Murders of Rowan Ford and Doug Ringler will be held 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Always Buying Books, 5357 N. Main, Joplin.
The book examines the 1993 murder of Carthage Hawthorne Elementary second grader Doug Ringler, the 2007 murder of Triway Elementary fourth grader Rowan Ford and the effects that the murders have had on the communities of Carthage and Stella to this day.
Copies of my previous book, Newton County Memories, will also be available, as well as copies of my earlier books.
In the accompanying video, I talk with KSN's Living Well host Shelby Neely about Lost Angels and the upcoming signing.

@9:03-I'm sure you'd be real happy if a "writer" wrote a book about the death of a nine year old in your family who was killed. That "writer" then went on television and had a book signing to advertise his book about the death of that child.
It's unrealistic to think that books should not be written about tragic and heinous crimes. I realize this was a personal tragedy for the family, and I am sure that is made known by the author. Thousands of articles and books are written about violent acts.
People should be made aware so they will know what evil is on this world. Maybe the book will help save the life of a child who might otherwise become a victim.
If you are a family member, I extend my condolences.
Well, for those that have commented about people not having the right to comment, because they are not family members, I am not a "family" member either, but I guarantee, I have more right to comment than anyone else on this thread does.
I personally think the book is terribly written, and it is written by someone that clearly did not know what he was writing about. He basically reprinted news articles, and court transcripts. There was MUCH more to Rowan, and much more to the "story than what was reported in or on the news. The Joplin Globe did nothing but sensationalize the entire story from day one. So much so, that they were no longer allowed to be anywhere near campus. Only ONE TV station was EVER given access to Rowan's teachers, and that TV station was from Springfield, and not Joplin. Randy claims to have written the book using those sources and first hand accounts, really? Neither of her teachers, nor any of her classmates were asked or interviewed, and no one knows where Rowan's mother is. So what "first hand accounts"? The book is nothing more than a greedy hack job.
Todd, you personally know everyone that was connected to every aspect of this case? Seems like a stretch. I am not saying you have some insight here and you may even know far more about the case than Randy or anyone on the face of the Earth but to act as if you know for a fact that no first hand accounts are involved in the book is maybe over stating your case. Hell, if he interviewed a cop that stood on scene for two minutes that would count as a first hand account of some aspect of the investigation. And of course the book is a cash grab, why would he have written it if not to make money? It is what he does to make a living.
Anonymous (COWARD), I would say that Yes! I DO know everyone that was connected to this case. If you knew who I was, my guess is that you wouldn't have made such an ignorant and asinine comment!
