IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) (the “Company”) announced August 29 a new partnership with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI®) and Belmont University’s Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business to air a new singer/songwriter series featuring a daily broadcast of the U.S. National Anthem performed by a variety of emerging artists.
The Star-Spangled Banner was once a staple on local television stations, signifying the beginning or end of the broadcast day, and with this new collaboration, Nexstar is restoring this long-held tradition across 171 stations in 100 markets starting this Labor Day, September 2, 2019.
The new singer/songwriter series will showcase multiple renditions of the National Anthem by BMI’s emerging talented songwriters who will record their own unique versions of the Star-Spangled Banner at Belmont University’s Ocean Way Studios. Nexstar will leverage its leading distribution capabilities to deliver professionally produced music video recordings of the national anthem to more than 43 million television households across the United States.

Why did Nexstar feel the need to tell us it will play the National Anthem every day, and why, Randy, did you feel the need to be their mouthpiece? If I were a cynic, I'd say Nexstar wanted some free, feelgood publicity without a sacrifice on their part. It's easy to support the troops when nothing comes out of your pocket. Man up, Nexstar, like I did, and support the USO with real, actual money.

I think Nexstar decided to wave the flag because so many of the deplorables just eat this kind of crap up.
If Nexstar gets some free publicity and makes more profits as a result of the deplorables flocking to their stations like a flies on fresh cow pies...Hell Yeah!
If Nexstar gets some more advertisers who want to reach out and touch the deplorables then that's there's another HELL YEAH!
7:37, you seem like a fun person. Honestly. I agree that anyone who enjoys or even doesn't mind the American flag being shown and the National Anthem being played are just plain ridiculous. I mean, why would anyone take pride in their country? So stupid.
Then you have Nexstar, a for profit company, that as you point out are just looking to make a buck by doing this. Who the hell runs a for profit company and tries to make money? Again, so stupid. Or maybe it's even worse than trying to make a profit, maybe Nexstar actually has pride in the country. It is nauseating to think people think this way.

I believe that this is a warranted story. In today's political climate and the disrespect we are seeing from so many people in our country, I think that Nexstar deciding to put back on tv what was taken off many years ago is a great idea. Let us remember where we are and that we all have a stake in this country. Waving the flag is not a left or right, conservative or liberal; it is a reminder of the freedom that we enjoy every day.
Bring back segregation too? Is that what you are asking for? Just because we used to do something doesn't mean we should do it again. Flag waving is facist. Pure and simple.
