Joplin's Memorial Hall closed until further notice following partial roof collapse

(From the City of Joplin)

Sometime during the morning of June 15 Joplin Memorial Hall experienced a partial roof collapse in the southwest corner of the building. No one was in the building at the time of the collapse.

Parks and Recreation Director Paul Bloomberg and other City officials have consulted with structural engineers to receive an initial assessment of this incident.

Following the review, the City has temporarily closed Memorial Hall for immediate repairs to be made as well as further assessment of the building.

The City will continue with the Memorial Hall Study that was planned to be completed in upcoming weeks with the contract being awarded in an upcoming City Council meeting.
