(From Fourth District Congressman Mark Alford)Our community, like so many others, woke up to heart-wrenching news this past Saturday. Like many of you, I was taken aback by the devastating headlines that met us Saturday morning. On one of the holiest days of the year, Israel, a nation we proudly call our ally, was blindsided by a horrific terrorist attack orchestrated by Hamas.
The images and accounts that have emerged from this assault are nothing short of heartbreaking.
Innocent lives taken, families shattered, and a nation left in mourning.
The indiscriminate killings of men, women, and children showcase the abhorrent brutality of Hamas and those extremists that are backed by Iran.
Current Situation:
- Over 1000 Israelis are tragically deceased.
- 2,400 individuals are wounded.
- Among the casualties, we deeply mourn the passing of 11 American citizens.
This is not just an attack on Israel; this is an assault on peace, stability, and the shared values that bind us as democracies.
Our Dual Responsibility:
1. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Israel - its leaders, its defenders, and its citizens.
2. As we send our prayers to the Israeli people, Congress must take definitive action. America needs to be prepared to supply our friends with anything they need to accomplish this goal.

No and No! Enough proxy wars while funding both sides.
This isn't the 1920's 944. What happens in Ukrain affects your cost of food and what happens in Isreal affects oil. There's no escaping its now a very closely intertwined global community. Without US positioning thru both passive and non passive involvement, your life wouldn't be so comfy and opportunistic. We tried the nationalistic approach before and it landed us in WW2.

Your Statement - is Absurd - What would you do if these Individuals - where Killing / Beheading / Raping - Your Family - Your Wife - Your Children - They have done this in both Ukraine and Israel - to Innocent Citizens. Just because it is not occurring right now in your town - does not mean that this will not come to our Country - Remember 9/11. How soon everyone forgets - -
The majority of People Do Not Understand - If we allow the Soviets to take over Ukraine or Hamas or Hezbollah to take over Israel or China to take over Tawain - then America is Next -
We cannot just avoid these Conflicts - they will eventually come to our Shores - - You may think if we just leave everyone else alone in the World - Put our Heads in the Sand, Like Ostridge's - No one will ever bother Us - - This is a Fools Thinking - - There are People / Groups in the World that want to Destroy Us - Because of our Religious Freedoms and Ways of Life - - They want you to Pray to Their God, Dress and Act the Same, Treat our Mothers, Wifes, and Daughters, as Second Class Citizens -
We in America - FORGET - that we live in a Global Economic and Very Hard-Lined Religious World - and we must be willing to Fight and Protect to Preserve what we have. Many Men and Woman - have Died for the Freedoms that we live and take so lightly - -
Don't ever think you are Safe - from the Rest the World or that the Rest of the World would not think Twice about attacking America - - Remember Japan and Germany - - These Countries - once crushed - became our Allies - - Look at North Korea and North Vietnam - because we played Political Games and did not Win those Conflicts - we still have problems with them today, as well as with Afghanistan -
And let's never forget 9/11 - it took only 19 terrorist hijackers aboard the four airplanes to cause - America - the loss of life of 2,996 people and $36 Billion Dollars worth of damage.
The Freedom You Have and the Life You Lead - is because of the People that Fought and Died to give you the Ability to sit at Home Today... So Never Forget - There are Costs for Freedoms - and many have Paid the Price - - Be Thankful you Live in this Greatest Country and that you have Brave Americans who will Protect You - to have these Freedoms - -
So the Next Time - You think we can just hide from what goes on in the Rest of the World - WAKE UP - - A good majority of these Countries - Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and several other Arab Countries are Watching, Waiting, and Seeing how Complicit - We are becoming and ignoring them as they try to push the limits and lines of our American Society and the Freedoms we have - - and NEVER Think - That You are 100% Safe - Just because you Live in America - -
