(From the Carthage R-9 School District)The Carthage R-9 Board of Education met in a board retreat on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 5:07 pm, at the Carthage R-9 Administration Office. Present were Board members Jeff Jones, Bill Lasley, Niki Cloud, Ryan Collier, Patrick Scott, and Lora Phelps. Nathan Terry was absent.
Dr. Boyer, Superintendent, provided an update on district processes and procedures and provided a finance update to the board members.
Dr. Boyer and the board members discussed the 2023-2024 budget, revenues, expenditures, district programs, stipends, salary schedule, departments, and buildings.
Dr. Boyer presented information to build collaboration with the Carthage R-9 Foundation and achieve successful fundraising goals for the district as a whole. Dr. Boyer and the board members reviewed school board member operations regarding working together with collective authority, governing as a team, board governing documents, school board member roles and responsibilities, board agendas, how to add items to an agenda, and the superintendent evaluation process.
