A traffic stop Thursday morning led to the arrest of a Carthage man for possession of methamphetamine, receiving stolen property and unlawful use of a weapon.
The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's formally filed the charges this morning and an arrest warrant was issued for Chad Robert Erwin (DOB 1983) with bond set at $7,500 surety or $1,500 cash.
According to the probable cause statement, a Carthage Police Department officer pulled Erwin over because his driver's license expired in 2017.
A search of Erwin's vehicle revealed a black Glock .22 which despite efforts to sand it down to remove all markings turned out to be stolen from the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
A baggie was found in Erwin's sock that contained methamphetamine.
