Preliminary hearing, detention hearing set for Joplin man on federal meth charge

A 10:30 a.m. November 15 preliminary hearing has been scheduled in U. S. District Court in Springfield for Benjamin Ray Nordby, 42, Joplin, who is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

A detention hearing will be held at the same time.

Nordby's initial appearance was held this morning in Springfield.

Nordby, who recently moved to Joplin from Oklahoma, is a member of a prison gang, the Universal Aryan Brotherhood, according to the probable cause statement and had been identified by the DEA in Tulsa as a retail supplier and distributer of methamphetamine.

The Joplin Police Department arrested him following a traffic stop Monday at 2000 W. 7th when 224 grams of meth were found in his vehicle.

Will you have an update on this? I'm wondering if he will get an O.R. bond.
