Newton County Central Dispatch Center mourns death of Kathy Wright

(From Newton County Central Dispatch Center)

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our co-worker, friend, and dispatch family member, Kathy L. Wright. Kathy faithfully served Newton County Central Dispatch for the past 9 years as the E911 Support Specialist.

Kathy was born in Rushville, IN to John and Elizabeth Wright. She worked as a police officer for Joplin Police Department for 10 years, Newton County Abstract and Title, the Neosho License Bureau, and for a number of years in the Newton County Circuit Clerk's office.

During her time with Newton County Central Dispatch, Kathy played a vital role in ensuring the dispatchers had the resources they needed to perform their mission. She also managed the 911 addressing, payroll, assisted in background checks for new hire candidates, processed subpoenas for records requests, and a multitude of other tasks.

Kathy was always equipped with a smile and an honest answer, whether you appreciated it or not. Kathy had an immense love of animals, particularly her cats Widget and Percy, as well as a number of very special horses.

Kathy was a student of the world that loved to visit with people from all walks of life. Kathy was the embodiment of strength and independence, and her absence will be felt for a long, long time. No words can describe the hurt and loss we as an agency feel at this time.

Thank you to everyone that has reached out, your kind words and sentiments are going a long way to ease the ache in our hearts.
-The Newton County Central Dispatch family
