Joplin police officer files motion for expedited hearing to preserve anonymity

The lawyer for the Joplin Police Department officer who fired the fatal shot that killed 2-year-old Clesslyn Crawford during a March 2022 hostage standoff in Baxter Springs, Kansas, filed a motion today asking for an expedited hearing of his petition to keep the city of Joplin from releasing his name.

The city was responding to Sunshine Law requests from KCUR, a public radio station in Kansas City and Nathaniel Stephens Dagley.

City officials told the lawyer for the officer, who is referred to as "John Doe" in both the original petition, which was filed Monday, and the motion for an expedited hearing, which was filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court, that John Doe's name would be included unless the court intervened.

Today's motion asks Judge Dean Dankelson to schedule a hearing sometime next week.

In his motions for a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction, John Doe says he has concerns about his safety and the safety of his family if his name is revealed.

John Doe is represented by attorney Sean P. McCauley of the Kansas City firm of McCauley & Roach, LLC.

I believe the Public should be allowed to know the Truth - - The Government has to many things they keep hidden - they need to be Honest and Up-Front - Whether this was an Accident or not.

If you or anyone receives a Parking / Speeding Ticket - Your Name is on Missouri CaseNet - with your Complete Address, Age - Everything - For Forever Available - Completely available to anyone - This was a Murder - whether an Accident or Not - - Why do Government Employees think they get to be above the Law - or use it to Hide their Actions...

Missouri Case Net - - https://www.courts.mo.gov/cnet/welcome.do

This was an Innocent Child - - She is the Victim of Reckless Act. Everyone thinks they are some John Wayne / Trained Sniper / - When a few Years ago in Missouri - - You had to put less Time and Training in to be a Police Officer than it took to become a Cosmologist to Cut Hair with scissors.

So they Require a Policeman out caring Guns on the Street Less Training than they allow a Person Cutting someone's Hair - Does that Sound Good to You??? Well that's the Truth...

This Child needs Justice - - So Her Estate - Parents, Siblings - Whoever should File a Lawsuit against this Police Office, this Police Department, this County, this City - Who is responsible for putting this Police Officer on the Streets...

He should not be given - any way to Hide Behind the Badge - When we allow this - we are stepping over the Rights of all - He Pulled the Trigger - He is Responsible - He needs to be Accountable for what he did... If this allowed - this is a Great Injustice to all....
