Four days after posting bond for his fifth arrest for driving while intoxicated, a Webb City man has been arrested for a sixth time.
It was just seven days ago that a Carthage Police Department officer responding to a report of a suspected drunk driver found Shane Erick Smith (DOB 1987), passed out in the drive through at Scooter's Coffee.
Smith was charged with DWI, possession of a controlled substance (three Xanax bars) and driving while revoked.
Two days after his arrest, Smith posted a $5,000 surety bond.
Joplin Police Department arrested Smith 11:12 a.m. Sunday for driving while under the influence of drugs, according to the probable cause statement.
I located Smith in a parking lot in the driver's seat with the car on after a witness had seen Smith in a store in Joplin, Missouri and believed he was intoxicated. I administered SFSTs on scene. Smith was slurring his words, nodding off, and was swaying and unbalanced. After arresting Smith, he refused a blood test. Smith has 5 prior DWI charges, 2 from 2006, 1 from 2011, 1 from 2017, and another from 2023.
