Joplin man charged with assault, burglary, property damage

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged a Joplin man with burglary, assault, unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of property damage following a confrontation Saturday at 528 South St. Louis Avenue.

According to the probable cause statement, Tyler Anthony Brown (DOB 2006) entered the home of Robert Charboneau without permission and refused to leave.

From the statement:

A verbal argument escalated when Tyler struck and broke a bedroom door by punching through it. He then shoved Robert onto a couch with enough force to cause Robert's dentures to break in half. Tyler displayed a box cutter knife, made verbal threats to harm Robert and his dog, and swung the knife at Robert, missing. Tyler was then physically pushed out of the house.

Before fleeing the scene, Tyler punched and shattered a glass window on the front door.

Maryellen Brown, a witness, confirmed seeing Tyler shove Robert onto the couch and heard the front door glass breaking. She also stated that Tyler was not permitted to be at the residence. Officers later located Tyler Brown in the area and placed him under arrest for active warrants.

A search incident to arrest revealed the following items in his possession:

A box cutter knife with razors

Two clear plastic baggies with white crystal residue

Two red straws with white residue

One glass pipe with burn residue

Robert displayed a bleeding lip and broken dentures.
