The Sonic Drive-In at 720 S. Maiden Lane became the second Sonic to fail a Joplin Health Department inspection in the past week. The Sonic at 310 E. 32nd failed its inspection Friday, according to information posted on the department website.
Sonic Drive-In
The Maiden Lane Sonic received one priority violation and 20 core violations.
The priority violation was having potentially hazardous foods (toppings) being cold held above 41 degrees.
Core violations were cited for the following reasons:
-The handwashing sink next to the drop-in burger freezer was not property sealed to the wall.
-The wire racks in the reach-in cooler were rusted.
-The handwashing sink next to the drop-in burger freezer was pulling away from the wall.
-Heavy ice accumulations were observed on the inside of the walk-in freezer.
-The accordion pipe below and to the left of the computer station was leaking water onto the floor.
-A water line was leaking water onto the floor behind the handwashing sink.
-Liquid waste was accumulating on the floor the walk-in cooler.
-Floor tiles in multiple locations through the establishment were damaged, missing and holding stagnant water, grease and food debris.
-The ceiling vent cover above the ice maker was missing and the frame around the cover was heavily rusted.
-Several portions of the walls were water damaged in the bag and box area.V
-The wall above the mop sink was heavily damaged and fixed with patch work wall pieces.
-The walk-in cooler floor was rusted.
-The floor tile coving was heavily damaged and missing in multiple locations.
-Heavy grease and food debris accumulations were observed behind the frying station in the kitchen.
-Floor grout in multiple locations were heavily worn and holding stagnant water, grease and food debris.
-Dust accumulations were observed on multiple ceiling vent covers throughout the establishment.
-Grease accumulations were observed on multiple ceiling vent covers.
-Multiple sections of the wall trim covers were damaged or missing.
-Several openings were observed on walls above the prep table cooler in the kitchen.
Vaphual Asian Market LLC
Two priority violations and three core violations were noted.
The priority violations were for the following:
-Several open boxes of produce being stored on the floor in front of the reach-in cooler were covered in gnats.
-A working continer of a chemical spray bottle in the bathroom was no labeled as to its contents.
Core violations were for the following:
-Multiple boxes of food were being stored incorrectly on the floor throughout the entire retail area.
-The floor tiles were damaged and beginning to separate.
Chaos Brewing
Chaos Brewing received one core violation, one priority violation and an administrative violation.
The core violation was for not having a chlorine sanitizer test kit.
A priority violation was recorded for having the sanitizer concentration for chlorine in the pass-through dishwasher was at O ppm.
The administrative violation was for hot having an up-to-date health permit posted.
The Big Biscuit
The Big Biscuit had three priority violations.
-The milk in the walk-in cooler was kept beyond its sell-by and expiration dates.
-Raw eggs were stored above hazardous foods in the walk-in cooler
-Food items in the cooler were being cold held above 41 degrees.
Food 4 Less Bakery/Deli
The Food 4 Less bakery and deli received two priority violations.
-Food items in the cake cooler were being cold held above 41 degrees.

Several of the Local Sonic's are having Health Inspection Issues - Time for the Owners and Management to Step Up and get to cleaning.
