KSPR; Spears tells Newton County deputy how he murdered his stepdaughter

KSPR has jumped all over the murder of nine-year-old Rowan Ford of Stella and has posted excerpts from a probable cause affidavit released today by the Barry County Sheriff's Department:

On November 9, 2007, at approximately 1730 hours, I, Chief Deputy Chris Jennings, conducted an interview of David Wesley Spears at the Newton County Sheriff's Department regarding the disappearance and murder of Rowan Ford. David Spears stated that on the night of November 2, 2007, into the morning of November 3, 2007, he participated in the sexual assault of his 9-year-old stepdaughter, Rowan Ford [at 777 Grove St. Stella, MO, Newton County]. The location is the home of Chris Collings, a friend of David Spears. David Spears provided that he arrived at the above-listed location and observed Collings sexually assaulting the child in the home. Spears described how he pulled his pants down, got on top of Rowan Ford, and sexually penetrated the child. David Spears continued to state that after he sexually assaulted Rowan Ford, he took a cord and wrapped it around the child's neck. David Spears provided that he stood directly over the child, facing her, and wrapped the curtain cord around her neck, choking her.

According to the KSPR story, Spears and Collings face charges of first degree murder, forcible rape, and statutory rape.

Video links to KSPR's coverage can be found on the station's homepage.

(Note: Since I first posted this article, I have discovered information that shows the probable cause affidavit mentioned has been posted on KSPR's sister station, KYTV.)

I always thought that I was against the death penalty under any circumstances. I really believed that. But this case has made me realize that I am wholeheartedly for the death penalty in some cases and not only that, I wish this man to suffer every day of his miserable existence until that death happens. This mans deserves to be tortured, just as he tortured that little girl.

Have they sentenced this guy yet?

It is horrible to think that someone could do this to the very person he was supposed to protect.

It is rather disgusting.
