Concentration of power on KSN side concerns KODE employees

Sources close to Nexstar Broadcasting indicate a growing concern among KODE news staffers that the promotion of longtime KSN anchor Jim Jackson to the news director position, and his co-anchor Tiffany Alaniz to assistant news director, could provide an unfair advantage to KSN when it comes to allocating news resources.
The changes, noted in the Wednesday Turner Report, are expected to be announced next week, and include the promotion of KSN Hometown Today co-host Toni Valliere to co-anchor of the station's 6 and 10 p.m. news, with Ms. Alaniz continuing to anchor the 5 p.m. newscast and taking over the duties at noon.

KSNF and KODE have shared news operations, with the same director and resources, for several years, but have generally managed to maintain their individual identities. Some at KODE think those days may be coming to a close.

When the two stations were "merged" there were plans to combine both operations under one roof. When those plans fell through this is what we were left to deal with. All of the decisions are made at KSN. ALL of them. But before KODE staff revolts, they should look at themselves. Who would have been fit for the N.D. position?
It would have been better for everyone to bring someone in from the outside and get some fresh ideas into these two stations. That would have also satisfied any concerns of bias KODE staff has.

We already know that if Tifany Alaniz has anything to do with changes being made....we will be hearing nothing about the news but more stories of Brad Pitt!!!

It sounds like some KODE employees just don't like Jim or Tiffany. Jim has been a dedicated employee for 30-ish years. I'm sure he is just going to stop caring about anything KODE does. (note the sarcasm) It also seems like you are trying to perpetuate a non-existant issue. Employees, at both stations, and viewers should be happy to see Jim Jackson, the areas most experienced and committed news employee, promoted to News Director. To say that there is going to be an unfair advantage to KSN is saying that you don't trust Jim. Anyone that knows or has dealt with Jim would not say that.
Also, as you have stated that none of this is yet public knowledge that means someone has released private information. From what you've written it appears that it was a KODE employee. I'm sure that Nexstar like most companies have NDAs. Maybe those employees should be more concerned about losing their jobs because they broke an NDA instead of complaining because they think Jim is going to favor KSN.
They need to give Jim a chance. Opinions from one or two people don't speak for the whole. If this was a real issue everyone at KODE would be standing up. And they wouldn't do it by complaining to a hack blogger. They would be professional about it and talk to management of the company. All they have done is stirred the pot.

Come on people....Tiffany Alaniz is hardly what I would call a good news anchor....now they are going to promote her????Oh Yes! But all things decided will be on the KSN side! What a shame!!!! Look out fourstates for a bunch of useless babble now that she will have any more of a say in things! Grrrr!!

Being from a larger market, I have found it quite humorous that the major TV stations are so closely aligned. It seems the weaker station gets the leftovers...so to speak. The TV web sites for all stations are horrendous. They have no individuality, personality or creativity. And while I am at it...good grief, why isn't there any news on the weekends?

I am sure KOAM is getting a good laugh about all of this!
