Charter bus company has history of safety violations

KHOU, Houston, reports the charter bus company that owned the bus in which 14 were killed on their way to the annual Marian Days observance in Carthage has no comment concerning the crash:

Angel Tours is the company who owns the private charter bus that killed 14 people in a deadly crash on Friday morning, but when 11 News asked to speak to the owner, he was not available and the person currently at the Angel Tours location in Houston refused to comment.

According to reports, it appears Angel Tours has a history. Some data and reports found through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said the bus company was given an unsatisfactory rating.

Angel Tours was given three critical safety violations after an inspection in May by the federal government. They were fined a few thousand dollars.

Then in June, the owner, Angel Del la Torre, shut down the company and in the same month filed with state of Texas to open up under new name.
