McCaskill to speak on opening night of convention

Sen. Claire McCaskill's status as a rising star in the Democratic party continues to grow.
Missouri's junior senator has been tabbed to speak on the opening night of the Democratic Convention in Denver:

It seems this announcement may put to rest talk of McCaskill as a possible running mate for Obama. But speculation remains that the former state auditor, who was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, could be in line for a Cabinet position in a possible Obama administration.

Obama's vice presidential pick will speak Wednesday of the convention, according to Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Convention Committee.

McCaskill has said she has not been asked by the Obama's vice presidential vetting committee to submit personal disclosure papers.
