Personal effects returned to families involved in Texas bus crash

KXII-TV in Texas reports personal effects of those involved in the bus crash that killed 17 people headed for the annual Marian Days observance in Carthage are being returned to their owners or to the owners' families:

Dozens of suitcases, bags, purses, and even shoes have been laid out inside church meeting rooms in Houston for victims and their family members to identify and claim.

Sergeant Bruce Dawsey is one of two people from Sherman who made the trip to Houston. Dawsey and an evidence technician borrowed a trailer from the Sherman Fire Dept. just across the street from police headquarters, and filled it with countless items, large and small. They spent Thursday and Friday waiting to return those items.

"We had one suitcase that didn't have any identifying tags on it, and one woman came by who thought it may be her sister's," Dawsey said.

"We opened it up and inside was a photo album with pictures of the woman and her family. She broke down crying." Dawsey said, explaining the emotional journey.
