A 9 a.m. Sept. 8 arraignment has been scheduled in Cole County Circuit Court for Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, who is charged with felony deviate assault on a 14-year-old girl.
Court records indicate Muschany posted a $5,000 surety bond.
Muschany, as noted in previous Turner Report posts, has co-sponsored legislation designed to stiffen penalties for people over 30 who have sex with teens, and a bill that would have weakened Missouri's teaching of sex education in the schools.
Chad Livengood of the Springfield News-Leader reported this morning that Muschany was one of 29 Missouri legislators who signed onto a brief to the U. S. Supreme Court backing the death penalty for child rapists.
