Former KOAM weatherman signs on with Fayetteville station

Former KOAM weatherman Dan Ashley has moved on to KNWA-TV, Fayetteville, Ark., where he will be the weekend meteorologist.
Ashley was profiled Friday on the Arkansas TV News Watch blog, which included this quote:

"I'm looking forward to coming to both a growing station and a growing area like Northwest Arkansas. There seems to always be something going on here, and the chance to continue to forecast weather as it rolls through tornado alley will be a blast."

Did he ever do a package?

OK, why on Earth would you have expected him to do a package? He is not a reporter, he (just like Doug Heady, and unlike Dave Pylant) is a trained meterologist. Have you ever seen Doug or Dave do a package? Let the man do what he went to school for and was trained to do. Leave the reporting to the journalists. Oh, and just for the record, I know all three of these personally. I wish him the best of luck in Fayetteville. I know he was under-appreciated by a news department management who believes that Doug Heady walks on water.

Wasn't he a three day a week reporter?

He was hired as a meterologist.....

And reported three days a week? I think the previous person was saying his job was to report 60% of the time, not do weather.

I don't know whats sadder, a news organization who put a person trained in weather to use the majority of their days as a reporter or that you expect that because he is a meteorologist he shouldn't have to fulfill his responsibilities as a reporter.

Go cry somewhere else.
