KSN also provided in-person coverage of hearing in Rowan Ford murder case

Last night, I wrote about the interview KYTV had with Colleen Spears, mother of nine-year-old murder victim Rowan Ford of Stella. Stephanie Diffin of KSN also had a strong interview with Mrs. Spears and provided in-person coverage of Tuesday's hearing.
Inexplicably, the interview and story are not featured on the KSN/KODE website. The website simply features KSN's Toni Valliere reading the story, accompanied by file footage during the noon newscast.

Another reminder of just how far behind the curve Nexstar is. In 2008 the website deserves nearly as much attention as your newscasts. Making your site "the" source for local news, as it is happening will have more long term benefit than anything you will do on air. People are using their computers for news just as much as their televisions. Going forward the trend will be away from TV News and toward the Net.
Of course, this would require hiring someone to update the website with fresh content. We all know that won't happen. Gone is the idea that you have to spend money to make money.

I couldn't agree more with the above comment!! I live not only out of town but out of state so i rely on the fourstates.com web-site to feed me the local news from my home town.Living in a big city, it makes me see just how generic KSN really is!!

Hey anonymous. Thinking KSN is the only web site to get local Joplin news while out of the area is like thinking McDonalds is the only place in Joplin to get a hamburger. Why not go to the Globe's site or the KOAM or KFJX site. The Globe has pretty good editorial stuff and KOAM and KFJX have pretty extensive video. All three are up to date. Fourstates.com is a commercial vehicle to sell unsuspecting advertisers the opportunity to have a web pressence without any regard for the metrics of page views. I guarantee you that the any of the trhee mentioned sites will have three times more topical Joplin News than KSNF's. KSN will let you see Gary Bandy's Dr. check up though if you give a darn about his blood pressure.
