Regis to close 160 salons

No announcement has been made on which stores will be affected, but hair salon giant Regis, which has a salon at Northpark Mall in Joplin, has announced it will close 160 underperforming outlets.
This marks the second time this week bad news has been issued by the corporate parent of a mall tenant, following the announcement that Steve and Barry's has decided to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy:

The Minneapolis-based chain (NYSE: RGS) said about 100 of the locations are regional mall-based stores, 40 are strip-center store types and 20 are in the United Kingdom. Most will close by Dec. 31.

Regis is not disclosing which salons are shutting, but they are not concentrated in any one state, said Alex Forliti, director of finance-investor relations.
