Nodler plays coy with the media, still thinking about run for Congress

Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, played coy with statehouse reporters today when asked about rumors that he might resign his chairmanship of the Appropriations Committee after this session, and whether he will join the crowd running for the Seventh District Congressional seat being vacated by Roy Blunt.

Even if he runs, he has no chance. There are some powerful people (republicans) already preparing to work hard against him.

If he runs, he wins. It won't be close. Powerful people don't prepare to work hard against someone that is easy to beat. They only prepare to work hard against someone that they fear will win. So if you were right that powerful people were preparing to work hard against him, they must believe he has a good chance to win.

Or they simply don't like him.

No Randy, if they simply didn't like him but thought he had no chance, they would not prepare to work hard against him but would prepare to sit back and watch him lose. It is clear that they think he will win unless hard work is done to stop him.

I think TruthBtold has it right. However, the betting here at Southern is that Nodler is just "waiting in the wings" to save Southern as his buddy Dwight "sets Bruce for failure". Then Douglas will arrange the university presidency for Nodler with the help of his (Douglas')accomplices on the board of regents.
