The political action arm of the state’s largest business association has endorsed Republican candidate Dave Spence for Missouri governor. Spence has earned the backing of the Missouri Chamber Political Action Committee for his pledge to support the Missouri Chamber’s legislative priorities, including tort reform and workers’ compensation reform measures vetoed by Gov. Nixon in recent sessions.
“Tort reform and workers’ compensation reform are bottom-line issues for Missouri business owners,” said Daniel P. Mehan, Missouri Chamber president and CEO. “Dave Spence is a business owner himself and understands what this legislation means for Missouri’s economy.”
Spence has been a strong member of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1998 as president of Alpha Packaging. Alpha Packaging was recognized with a Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fast Track Award in 2009.
“A sluggish economy and high unemployment still plagues our state. Spence’s proven experience in creating jobs would be a valuable tool in his role as governor,” said Mehan.
In his campaign for governor, Spence has pledged not to raise taxes. He is committed to guard Missouri’s workers’ compensation system and employment law for the people it was meant to protect – employees, not trial attorneys.
Spence also supports reducing regulatory burdens and pushing to make Missouri a right-to-work state so that Missouri businesses have more opportunities to grow and add jobs.
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry (www.mochamber.com) was founded in 1923 and is the largest business organization in Missouri, representing almost 3,000 employers, providing more than 425,000 jobs for Missourians.
