The call for the volunteers has been sounded again.
City of Joplin inspectors issued a temporary certificate of occupancy today, meaning that the volunteers can begin moving materials into the new Joplin High School and Franklin Technical Center and the high school is on track to open Monday, August 25.
The volunteers had initially been scheduled to begin moving items into the new building Monday, but the building failed a city inspection last Friday.

Despite the continuing dissatisfaction with district leadership that is so prevalent at the moment, I think most of us are quite relieved that the students will be able to start school before it gets any later in the year. I hope that they stay safe and stay away from the construction zones--it would have been a temptation to me to look around when I was a kid. Good luck, Eagle students and teachers!
I really don't see how this will be possible. The inside is nowhere near complete. I kmow someone who as been working on the school and as of Friday 8/15/14 there is no flooring. No tile no carpet nothing. He said it is at least 3 months if not longer to get it to where its inhabitable.
