Sources: State audit critical of Mike Woolston

City Hall sources indicate the state audit of the City of Joplin included criticism of City Councilman Mike Woolston.

The council members heard the results of the audit during a heated closed session last week. The city will submit responses to the auditors' findings, which will be included in the final report, likely to be revealed during a public session late this month or sometime in July.

The criticism reportedly dealt with some of the same issues addressed by the Loraine Report, which was highly critical of Woolston's efforts to buy property in the tornado-stricken area for Joplin developer Charlie Kuehn, who, in turn worked with former master developer Wallace-Bajjali and sold the property to the Joplin Redevelopment Corporation at a higher price.

Loraine accused the councilman of using insider knowledge and playing on his status as a city councilman and as the tornado mayor in his efforts to convince people to sell their property.

The auditors took the unusual step of issuing subpoenas to some of the CART (Citizens Advisory Recovery Team) members, who brought Wallace-Bajjali to Joplin.

The background of CART, Mike Woolston, the Loraine Report, and Wallace-Bajjali are covered extensively in the new book, Silver Linings in a Funnel Cloud, available now online and soon in the Joplin area.

It's amazing how it always seems to be land that a city council member/school board member just happened to have bought 6 months ago ends up getting sold to the city/investor/school district!! Sure sounds like a scam by Woolston, Four State Homes & C.A.R.T. !!! I guess if looks like a skunk, smells like a skunk it probably is a skunk!!

Where is Jasper County Prosecutor Dean Dankleson? Time to step up and investigate.

Dean Dankelson is in Huff's pocket like the rest of Jasper County, apparently.

Read Turner's book, everybody, if you want to know more about what has been happening since the tornado. I have a strong feeling he better start the sequel, as we are just beginning to scratch the surface of the corruption and collusion that has gone on. Great read.

Dankleson just might, you know, want to get a copy of the auditor's report before investigating. Right now only the city council and whoever of their staff that attended the meeting with the state auditors know what's in it.

Although I'm sure the auditor's office has procedures for quietly referring criminal evidence they dig up, so that could be going on behind the scenes, and we wouldn't likely know about it until someone's office gets raided.

Oh my goodness! A corrupt City Councilman in SW Missouri? Next thing we will be hearing about is corrupt school superintendents, school board members, county commissioners, and prosecutors.

I am thrilled to live in a system where if you have the right relationships with the right people you have carte blanche to do what you want. A prosecutor is not forced to prosecute anyone.
