Sentencing set for Mercy Hospital shooter

A February 21 sentencing is set for Kaylea Liska, 21, Webb City, who entered an Alford plea today to felony charges of assault and armed criminal action in connection with a December 23, 2015, shooting in the Mercy Hospital parking lot.

An Alford plea is when a defendant does not plead guilty, but acknowledges that there is enough evidence to convict.

According to a Joplin Police Department news release, Steven Harner, Joplin, found Liska in his vehicle in the parking lot and confronted her. "She shot Harner and fled the scene." The police found Liska and arrested her the following morning.
