Dade County reports first COVID-19 case, potential exposures at four Lamar businesses

One of the last counties in southwest Missouri to be free of COVID-19 lost that distinction today when the Dade County Health Department announced the first laboratory confirmed case.

"The person is currently isolated at home and the Health Department will call any close contacts that may have been exposed to the virus and will provide them with guidance on how to monitor for symptoms," the department's news release said.

The Dade County resident who contracted the disease visited numerous Lamar businesses four days last week, according to the news release:

-Tractors, June 8, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
-Dollar General June 10 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
-Sonic, June 11, 12 noon to 1 p.m.
-Walmart June 12 11 a.m. to 12 noon

"The individual was infectious and symptomatic and did not wear a mask," the news release said. "There is no need for these persons to self-quarantine unless symptoms develop."
